Tuesday 27 March- Bishopsgate Institute- This course looks at the history of
print and printing in its social, economic and cultural context, exploring: the
problems faced by early printers; the economics of early printing and how this
affected the printed page; the social, legal and moral position of printers;
the techniques of printing and the audiences for art prints; the technological
developments of the nineteenth century, and the twentieth century revival of
letterpress.
